Sculpt Your Lower Body to Perfection

A lower body lift is a surgical procedure designed to contour and rejuvenate the lower body by removing excess skin, fat, and tissue while tightening and smoothing the remaining skin. This procedure can address multiple areas, including the abdomen, back, hips, buttocks, and thighs, to restore a more youthful, proportionate appearance. A lower body lift can be an excellent option for those who have lost significant weight, undergone bariatric surgery, or experienced changes due to aging or genetics.

Lower Body Lift Corrects:

  • Excess skin and fat in the abdominal area
  • Sagging skin and tissue around the hips and buttocks
  • Dimpled or loose skin on the thighs
  • An uneven or unbalanced appearance between the upper and lower body
  • A lack of definition or contour in the lower body
  • Skin and tissue laxity due to weight loss, aging, or genetics
  • Stretch marks or scarring on the lower body

The Final Step in Bariatric Surgery

After undergoing bariatric weight loss surgery, patients often find loose, hanging skin to be a major concern. A lower body lift is often the final step in this process, helping to address the most common areas of excess skin and create a more contoured, proportionate appearance. By removing excess skin, fat, and tissue and tightening the remaining skin, Dr. Cohen can help you achieve the body you’ve worked hard for.

Benefits of Lower Body Lift:

  • Restores a more youthful and proportionate appearance to the lower body
  • Removes excess skin, fat, and tissue for a smoother, more contoured silhouette
  • Tightens and tones loose or sagging skin and tissue
  • Improves self-confidence and body image
  • Simultaneously addresses the abdomen, back, hips, buttocks, and thighs
  • Can be customized to meet the individual needs and goals of each patient
  • Long-lasting results with proper maintenance and a healthy lifestyle
  • May improve physical comfort and mobility by eliminating excess skin and tissue
  • Can provide motivation to maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle after surgery

What Happens During Lower Body Lift Surgery?

During your lower body lift surgery, you can expect to be under general anesthesia to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. Dr. Cohen will carefully mark the areas to be treated and then make incisions in strategic locations to minimize visible scarring.

The exact incision locations and lengths will depend on the extent of your procedure and your individual anatomy. Typically, the incisions are made along the lower abdomen, around the hips, and across the back, allowing Dr. Cohen to remove excess skin and fat, tighten the remaining tissue, and sculpt the area to achieve the desired contours.

In some cases, a panniculectomy may be included to remove excess skin from the pubic area and thighs.

The surgery typically lasts three to six hours, depending on the extent of the procedure. Once the surgery is complete, you will be taken to a recovery room to be monitored and to begin the healing process. Dr. Cohen will also provide detailed aftercare instructions.

Lower Body Lift Aftercare Guidelines:

  • Follow all post-operative instructions provided by Dr. Cohen
  • Take pain medications and antibiotics to manage discomfort and reduce the risk of infection
  • Keep the incision sites clean and dry, and change dressings as directed
  • Avoid strenuous physical activity or heavy lifting for at least six weeks after surgery
  • Sleep in a reclined position to reduce pressure on the incision sites
  • Wear compression garments as directed to reduce swelling and promote healing
  • Attend all scheduled follow-up appointments to monitor your progress
  • Eat a healthy, well-balanced diet and stay hydrated to support the healing process
  • Avoid smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke, which can slow healing
  • Give your body time to heal fully before resuming normal activities

When Will I See the Final Results?

It may take several months to see the final results of your lower body lift surgery. Swelling, bruising, and skin tightness are normal during the initial healing process, but these will gradually subside over time. As your body heals and adjusts to its new contours, you will begin to see the full effects of your surgery. Most patients see optimal results after around 6 months.
