Support Healthier Skin Renewal

Chemical peels are in-office skin resurfacing treatments that use carefully formulated acids to exfoliate the outer layers of the skin. By removing damaged cells, peels can help improve acne, discoloration, sun damage, fine lines, rough texture, and dull tone. Different peel strengths work at varying depths, allowing treatment to be customized to your concerns. At Wess Cohen MD, we offer TCA peels, which penetrate more deeply to stimulate skin renewal. As the skin heals, new cells emerge with improved tone, texture, and overall health.

Chemical Peels Correct:

  • Acne and acne-related congestion
  • Sun damage and uneven pigmentation
  • Dark spots and discoloration
  • Fine lines and early signs of aging
  • Rough or uneven skin texture
  • Dull, tired-looking skin tone

How Do TCA Peels Work?

TCA peels work by applying trichloroacetic acid to the skin, where it causes controlled chemical coagulation of epidermal and superficial dermal proteins. This triggers exfoliation and initiates a wound-healing response. As damaged skin cells shed, fibroblasts in the dermis are stimulated to produce new collagen and elastin. TCA peels support cellular turnover, melanin regulation, and skin regeneration to improve overall texture, tone, and structural support.

Benefits of TCA Peels:

  • Improves skin tone, texture, and clarity
  • Stimulates collagen production at deeper skin levels
  • Addresses pigmentation, acne, and sun-related damage
  • Customizable depth based on skin concerns
  • Provides visible skin renewal over time
  • Performed in a controlled medical setting

What Happens During the Chemical Peel Session?

Your chemical peel session begins with a personalized consultation, during which your skin concerns, goals, medical history, and prior treatments are carefully reviewed. Your provider will examine your skin tone, texture, and sensitivity to determine whether a TCA peel is appropriate and to select the correct peel strength. Next, pre-treatment instructions are discussed, including skincare preparation and sun protection, so your skin is ready for the procedure.

On the day of treatment, your skin is cleansed and prepped, and a topical numbing agent may be applied to improve comfort. The TCA solution is then carefully applied in controlled layers, creating a mild to moderate warming or tingling sensation. The procedure typically takes 20 to 30 minutes. After application, soothing products are applied, and detailed aftercare instructions are provided to support healing and optimal skin renewal.

When Will I See the Final Results?

You may notice improvements in tone and texture as peeling subsides within the first one to two weeks. As your skin continues to heal and regenerate, collagen production increases, leading to more visible refinement over the following several weeks. The final results typically develop gradually as new, healthier skin cells fully replace damaged layers.
